The In-Water Boat Show docks at the Old Port of Montreal

A unique opportunity to visit and have free demo ride of more than 100 boats

Brossard, August 28th  2012 – Looking for a fun outside activity to enjoy your last days of summer? Don’t miss the third annual Montreal In-Water Boat Show that will be held from the 7th to 9th of September at the Old Port of Montreal. During the event the public will have a privileged access to the basin of the Port d’Escale of the Old Port. The visitors will be able to admire and try over 100 models of boats of all types, including large luxury yachts. They can also meet many exhibiters at the beautiful park beside the basin. All of this with a free admission.

Presented by the Quebec Maritime Association (QMA), the Montreal In-Water Boat Show attracted over 12,000 visitors last year. Because the show is in water, the event is different from all other nautical exhibitions in the province. This year's show will impress the public with large luxury yachts of 45 & 60 feet - which is exceptional because interior shows have neither the space nor the ability to present boats of this size. In addition, visitors will be able to see the boats in action, which is impossible in a traditional exhibition. Thus, those interested in learning more about boating can truly feel the real impact of a boat on the water.

High-tech complex navigation maneuvers in a snap

Boaters will be thrilled to try a navigation simulator and discover that it is now possible to easily dock a boat using a simple joystick and electronic control systems – all of this without having to perform difficult docking maneuvers taking into account the wind and current. “This type of system is totally revolutionary, says Mr. Yves Paquette, head of the QMA. With these technologies, a person who has never set foot on a boat can now dock using complex maneuvers in a jiffy”. The public can also climb aboard and test a demonstrator boat highly equipped in computer systems like multifunction displays, radar, depth sounders, autopilots, a VHF system, wireless man-overboard sensors, cameras and marine displays.
